How to set up a free on-call schedule in Slack

2. Pick the engineers who'll be on the rotation and the Slack user group (e.g. @oncall) to keep in sync.
3. Choose a cadence — weekly is the most common starting point — and a start date. You're done.

When to upgrade (and when not to)

Free works for most small engineering teams. You only need the Pro plan if you want more than 3 rotation schedules in a single Slack workspace — and even then it's a flat $9.99 per workspace per month, not per user.
